rural-mental-healthAs a part of the second year of our Rural Mental Health Initiative contract with the Ministry of Health, the Rural Health Alliance Aotearoa New Zealand (RHĀNZ) developed New Zealand’s first workshop aimed specifically at upskilling primary and community health and social service professionals to screen for depression and suicide risk, and have greater confidence in providing the care needed.

From this, Safe Hands, Safe Plans emerged.

During the 2016 – 2017 year we ran twelve Safe Hands, Safe Plans workshops across rural NZ in Hawkes Bay, South Canterbury, Southland and the West Coast. These workshops are free of charge to participants.

We will provide a further twenty workshops during the course of the 2017 /2018 year.
